Job Search Training Program
Making a decision about where we work is very important. We spend half of our waking life at work. It is not a decision we should make alone. It is not a decision we should make without a great deal of thought.
Your personal Employment Consultant will work with you in developing a plan to get that job that you are searching for.
To prepare you for achieving your career goal, your Employment Consultant will train you in the skills necessary to gain employment. This service is FREE.
A job search training programme will help you:
- Write and update your resume
- Prepare job application letters
- Obtain references
- Increase your confidence
- Expand your horizons
- Develop interview skills
- Improve your presentation
A programme will be developed by your personal
Employment Consultant to build up your skills. You will have access to telephones, computers, photocopiers, the internet and newspapers.
Eligibility
Job Search Training is for people who have been unemployed for at least 3 months and need extra help in applying for jobs. Eligibility for job searcch training is determined by Centrelink.
To be eligible you must be:
- registered with Centrelink as unemployed
- receive Newstart or Youth Allowance or Government Income Support (not Age Pension and mature Age Allowance) or
- aged 15 to 20 years not in full-time study or
- an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander client in the Community Employment Development Projects Scheme or
- a person returning to the workplace after two years
- be work ready
