Mitchelton Employers get behind jobs campaign

Jobs worth more than $1,056,060 have been secured in June in the North-West News area as a result of a community jobs campaign.

The Sarina Russo Job Access campaign had been successful because of great support from the local business community, said Mitchelton manager Kelli Hennessey.

The annual salaries of all jobseekers placed in June have been added together to determine the final figure.

Sarina Russo Job Access put a lot of energy into marketing the skills of jobseekers directly to local employers.

Skills and processes can be taught on-the-job but the right attitude is a wonderful commodity for jobseekers to possess.

Ms Hennessey took time out last week to check how new employee Amy Atkins was settling into her administrative job at the North West Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Association.

Key Sarina Russo Job Access job search strategies which helped many candidates get jobs included:
  • Setting specific, measurable and timely goals such as phoning three employers within their industry of choice every day.
  • Research. Find out what the employers need.
  • Developing a prospects list.
  • Proactively look for a job because jobs don’t look for you.

Ms Hennessey said she continued to encourage local employers needing staff to contact Sarina Russo Job Access as there were still many experienced and skilled local jobseekers on the books.
