YOUR diarist last night found himself sitting in a large marquee in Melbourne with some alarmingly important people, listening to Irish rocker turned global political activist Sir Bob Geldof.
The event was a major fundraiser organised by the Pratt Foundation and Thorney Investment Group at the home of Alex and Heloise Waislitz, the foundation’s chairwoman and daughter of the late Richard Pratt and his wife Jeanne.
Among those on the guest list were Brisbane’s very own Sarina Russo, Solomon Lew, Sir Gustav Nossal, Eddie
McGuire, Andrew McManus and Michael Gudinski.
Molly Meldrum acted as MC, with Jon Stevens, Kate Ceberano and Jessica Mauboy also spied running around.
Proceeds went to the new St Vincent’s Cancer Centre, the centre’s appeal chairman being the largest shareholder of the listed labour-hire conglomerate, Skilled Group, Greg Hargrave.
