Russo denies intent for Lord Mayoral run – City News

 

Businesswoman Sarina Russo has ruled herself out of the race to be Brisbane Lord Mayor, denying persistent rumours she is considering a tilt at the city's top job.

 

A spokesman for Ms Russo, who has met some of the world's most powerful men including US President Barack Obama and former president Bill Clinton, said she was surprised by the rumours.

 

"She was overseas when I phoned her about it and she said she was more interested in finding other people a new job than finding a new one herself," he said.

 

"She said Campbell is doing a great job."

 

Incumbent Lord Mayor Campbell Newman has already announced his intention to run at the next election in March 2012.

 

Labor's Opposition leader Shayne Sutton ruled herself out of the Mayoral race, saying the ALP would recruit a candidate from outside its current council team by the end of year.
