James Cook University (JCU) is a leading research university based in Queensland, Australia, and international students have been coming to our campuses for many years to further their education and gain qualifications that are recognised world-wide.
Our main campuses are in Townsville and Cairns in tropical northern Queensland, we have a capital city campus in Brisbane and an international campus, JCU Singapore. JCU degrees are also available via a network of education partners in Asia and the Pacific.
JCU is Queensland’s second oldest university and has internationally recognised teaching and research programs across a broad range of disciplines. In a recent ranking of the world's top 500 universities, JCU was one of only 15 Australian universities listed (Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Academic Ranking of World Universities 2007). In 2008, JCU was ranked in the 303-401 grouping compared to the 403-510 group in 2007. JCU is one of only 2 universities from Queensland to make this list.
JCU provides a supportive study environment, highly qualified teachers, exceptional facilities, and a friendly environment that emphasises personal contact between students and academics. Our graduates are valued by employers for their combination of academic skills, practical experience and good communication and technology skills.
